| Ok so I will admit that I have completely, and somewhat purposely, ignored xanga for this summer. To my faithful friends, I appologize. A lot has been happening over the past couple of months, from buying my very own house, going on road trips, skipping work to hang out at Kings Island (its ok, i'm the boss :), making new friends, seeing old friends, and too much more to mention. I've been working on my house trying to get all the things done that I need to do so I can move in. Unfortunately it is taking a little longer than I hoped it would have. When I closed on it I had to sign a clause that said I would move in within sixty days.......well.....I just hit sixty days and have at least another month of work to do to it. When I started tearing into the walls I found all kinds of hidden damage that needed to be repaired, such as termite damage, fire damage, and faulty wiring. I ended up ripping all the plaster off the walls so I could repair the many items on my growing punch list. At this moment I'm about half done replacing all the drywall. Hopefully as soon as that is done I can focus on replacing the plumbing, HVAC, and subfloors. If you think this sounds like a rather large job you would be correct...and at this point I'd almost rather bulldoze the stinkin place and just start from scratch, however, I know when I get done I'm gonna love it. Its been neat to find 80 year old wallpaper in the rooms and imagine what the place used to look like. I also happened to find a section of the original baseboard which I would like to have copied so that I can keep the house as authentic as possible. I also uncovered the original oak floors which aren't in that bad condition. I'm going to try to sand them down and refinish them in hopes that something nice will come of it.
As far as business goes I've had a great summer. I'm finishing up a house right now that was officially the worst house I have ever bought. I literally replaced everything. Oh well it has been fun. Oh and while working at this house I happened across a dead iguanna (not sure how that is spelled and I'm too lazy to look it up) under the porch...that was a first. I've been able to expand a little this summer and hope to do so more this fall and the first of the year. God has blessed me more than I ever could have hoped for and I owe all my success to Him. I've learned a lot about trusting God and that His plan for my life is far better than the piddly one I came up with. Somehow life is a little easier when I trust Him and I think I like it that way.
Well I'm gonna sign off for now, good chatting with you all again. Hope to see you soon! |
